Baby Yoda brings together two great forces of world cinema!

Star Wars creator Lucasfilm and Studio Ghibli have teamed up for an iconic collaboration on an animated short film about Baby Yoda titled `Zen – Grogu and Dust Bunnies`.

According to a report from Variety, the film will be a hand-drawn animated short film in typical Ghibli cinematic style. It will feature the super cute alien boy Grogu from the Disney+ original series `The Mandalorian`, and anthropomorphized coal dust bunnies from Ghibli’s masterpiece `Spirited Away`, which won the 2001 Oscar for `Best Animated Feature` . Studio Ghibli and Disney teased a poster for the project on their Twitter accounts, respectively, which features a hand-drawn figure of Grogu with two dust bunnies around him.

The film will feature music from “The Mandalorian” composer Ludwig Goransson, who recently scored Marvel’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”

While it is Lucasfilm’s first collaboration with Ghibli, it is not the first time the studio has teamed up with an anime studio.

For the `Star Wars Visions: Anthology Series` released in 2020 on Disney+, Lucasfilm contracted with numerous Japanese anime studios, with creative freedom for the narrative setting given to each of them within the Star Wars Universe, according to Variety.

Coincidentally, news of the Studio Ghibli collaboration comes shortly after they opened a theme park dedicated to director Hayao Miyazaki’s iconic animated films, though these are only available to Japanese visitors yet. The director, who had previously announced his retirement in 2013, has returned for one more film ‘How Do You Live’, which is inspired by a 1937 Japanese novel by Yoshino Genzaburo. ‘Grogu and Dust Bunnies’ will be available to watch on Disney+ at from November 12.
