Elizabeth Debicki said the “iconic” fashion of Diana, Princess of Wales broke the norm by wearing clothing in a typically non-royal way.
The 32-year-old Australian actress has been shown wearing Diana’s infamous ‘revenge dress’ in the trailer for the fifth season of Netflix’s royal drama The Crown.

Other outfits and dresses Diana wore during the ’90s also appear to appear in promos for the series, including a blue minidress and various outfits she wore.
Speaking during a news conference on Tuesday, Debicki said: “What made Princess Diana so interesting (and) iconic with her fashion choices is that she brought the private into the public sphere, which was something so unreal and so fascinating”. for the people because it was very transgressive.
“(It was) also an attempt to capture a story of his own narrative really through silhouette and choices.
“So we had that part of the story to tell that was really satisfying, but we also got to imagine who Diana is in this story behind closed doors.”
Imelda Staunton, who replaces Olivia Colman as Queen, said that the hair, makeup and clothing allow you to transform into the character.
The 66-year-old actress said, “I started to worry when I started thinking, ‘I look pretty good in this.’
“I started thinking ‘I love these clothes’ because of course they are all made.
“And it makes it very difficult to just go to the stores and buy a jacket.”

He also said that the Queen’s fashion was not “altered” allowing the public to “recognize her” and “feel like they know her”.
Staunton added, “I think people really part of why they looked up to her was that she just wasn’t trying to be…maybe she should be trendy now.”
Netflix’s hit royal drama will return on November 9.
