Pop quiz: Who loves consuming Doritos all day, taking lengthy naps, and luxuriating in baths? If you answered me, then you might be proper. But for those who answered Spike, the chihuahua, you’re much more proper! The now-famous Spike has reached the ripe age of 23, which makes him the newly topped world’s oldest canine. Yes, it appears Doritos and baths are the important thing to a protracted life.
As with most beloved stars, Spike comes from humble beginnings. He’s a rescue canine who was found by his human Rita Kimball in the future within the parking zone of an Ohio grocery retailer. She noticed the poor pup in a tough situation, introduced him house, and named him Spike as a result of, regardless of being small, he had “the attitude of a big dog.” Spike’s been a real member of her household ever since! Now the little chihuahua combine is getting love from all around the world for his achievement of turning into an previous man. through People:
The 23-year-old rescue pup named Spike earned the Guinness World Records title of World’s Oldest Living Dog on Thursday, the group introduced, displacing earlier title holder Gino, a 22-year-old blended breed pup from Los Angeles.
“Most of our family knew that Spike was old but didn’t know he had a shot at being the oldest in the world,” Kimball mentioned. “Now that he is a record holder, they see him as a celebrity.”
Rita instructed Guinness that Spike’s set schedule — along with “a healthy diet, room to roam, daily exercise, and unlimited love and attention” — is among the causes behind the canine’s longevity.
She added: “I believe Spike is still here because after having such a terrible life at first, he makes the best of each day.”
Spike joins 27-year-old Flossie, the present reigning world’s oldest cat, on this planet’s oldest pet corridor of fame.
Spike will dwell the remainder of his days (learn: FOREVER. He will outlast us all!) on Rita’s Ohio farm the place he hangs out with varied cattle, takes Saturday night baths, and eats the occasional Dorito. I hope once I’m 23 (ahem), I’ll look and act pretty much as good as Spike!
